Running into the error "Rest API is not enabled for Salesforce"? Read this customer education article to learn why you're seeing this and how to solve this issue.

Getting Started

If you see the error message 'The Rest API is not enabled for this organization' when trying to connect your Salesforce account, this means that your Salesforce organization doesn't currently have API access. API access is required for an integration because it is how the connection is made and communicates.

API access comes with the following editions of Salesforce:

  • Enterprise Edition
  • Unlimited Edition
  • Developer Edition
  • Performance Edition

You can also inquire with the Salesforce team to see if it's possible to add API access to your current version.

If you get error 'could not load push topics,' ensure the both the rest and streaming apis are enabled for this organization. Their help forum provided this response as the error is related to their Workbench product.

Workbench is not officially supported by Salesforce. Therefore, streaming API subscription with Workbench is sometimes flaky and salesforce no longer recommends using Workbench. You can use the EMP Connector if issues continue.

Below is a link to their documentation on API access as well as their support team:
